Florian Kohfeldt is a strong candidate for the Hertha Berlin job

Former Werder Bremen and VfL Wolfsburg head coach Florian Kohfeldt is being considered to become the next Hertha Berlin head coach by the US investor 777.

Bild are reporting that Kohfeldt is highly appreciated among Hertha Berlin’s investor group. They consider him a potential successor to Pál Dárdai due to his offensive style of play, which would, in turn, develop Hertha’s young players into playing the “Berlin way”.

While at Werder Bremen, Kohfeldt oversaw 142 games for Die Werderaner before being relieved of his duties on matchday 33 of the 2020/21 campaign with Werder all but relegated. A brief stint as Wolfsburg head coach would see him guide the Wolves to 12th in the Bundesliga during the 2021/22 season.

There is already a connection in place between Kohfeldt and the capital club, as the head coach’s advisor Marc Kosicke was a consultant to Hertha’s prior investor Lars Windhorst.

However, Kohfeldt’s desire to become head coach will undoubtedly depend on where the Old Lady will be plying their trade next season. With the DFL still declining Hertha a license for the 2. Bundesliga for the upcoming campaign, their future is still in doubt.
