Finn Dahmen to leave Mainz in the summer

Transfermarkt.de reports that Mainz goalkeeper Finn Dahmen is to leave the club at the end of the season with Schalke and PSV Eindhoven interested in the 24-year-old.

Dahmen’s contract ends at the end of the season, and his representative have already begun talking to potential suitors. Schalke are looking for a new goalkeeper as Alexander Schwolow who is on loan from Hertha Berlin, has lost his place to Ralf Fährmann so the loan for Schwolow will unlikely lead to anything.

While PSV are currently without their first-choice goalkeeper Walter Benítez due to a serious knee injury and it is unknown what state he will return in. Hertha Berlin had reportedly tried to sign Dahmen last summer but no agreement between the two could be met.

When asked about his future by Bild, Dahmen said: “Mainz has chosen Robin several times in recent years. That’s why I assume that my time in Mainz will end in the summer.”

This season Dahmen has played eight times for Mainz due to the injury to Robin Zentner who returned in Mainz’s 4-0 win against Borussia Mönchengladbach last weekend. The under-21 European champion has struggled to convince Bo Svensson that he deserves to start over Zentner.
