Edin Terzić on Borussia Dortmund’s upcoming fixtures: “most important week of the season.”

During a press conference on Thursday, Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzić described the upcoming games against RB Leipzig and Chelsea next week as “the most important week of the season.”

So far in 2023, BVB have played nine and won nine. However, it’s crucial for Dortmund to make it 10 in a row if they’re to keep the pressure on Bayern Munich. BVB and Bayern are currently tied on 46 points at the summit of the Bundesliga with only goal difference keeping Bayern on top.

Speaking on this Friday’s clash with RB Leipzig, Terzić explained: “We’re happy. We want to increase the gap to Leipzig, they also want to improve their position. That’s why it’s going to be a game in which both teams are going for a win. We’re sure it’ll be a really good game. We but also have to perform very well to finish as a winner.”

Leipzig are in 4th position on 42 points. Should they lose to Dortmund, they’ll be seven points off the top two and possibly have too much of a gap to close if they want to win the title. With ex-Dortmund coach Marco Rose now in charge of the Saxons, the fixture has that extra edge to it.

Terzić understands the importance of the fixture for both sides: “It will be an absolutely top game in the Bundesliga. We’re looking forward to it.” He continues: “We want to increase the gap, they want to improve their position at the top of the table again. It will be a game in which both teams will go for the win.”

The training ground at Dortmund is also starting to look a little bit more full again. Julian Ryerson has been back in team training since the start of the week while Mateu Morey and Julien Duranville both started training with the first team as well. Karim Adeyemi will begin training with a ball at his feet this Friday, however, along with Youssoufa Moukoko he will not be available for some time.
