Felix Nmecha set to join Borussia Dortmund for €30m

Ruhr Nachrichten reports that Felix Nmecha is set to join Borussia Dortmund with the deal likely to be completed next week.

Nmecha is to join Dortmund for around €30m which is more expensive than Dortmund had hoped. The midfielder will sign a contract at the club until 2028. The 22-year-old will likely complete his medical at the beginning of next week.

Nmecha is seen as the replacement for Jude Bellingham who joined Real Madrid earlier in the window. The German international joined Wolfsburg in 2021 from Manchester City on a free transfer, he joined the club the same year his brother (Lukas) rejoined Wolfsburg.

In what was his breakthrough season, the 22-year-old played 32 times and assisted six times for Wolfsburg before earning a call-up to the German national team in March.

Despite talks with the management at Dortmund, the transfer of Nmecha is surrounded by controversy. The 22-year-old has previously shared homophobic content and transphobic content by US political commentator Matt Walsh on social media, these views are against those of Dortmund and it is something that the fans have been vocal about and will continue to be even once Nmecha joins the club.
