Eintracht Frankfurt’s Djibril Sow to undergo a medical at Sevilla

As reported via Kicker, Sevilla are set to sign Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow.

The 26-year-old has long made his intention to leave Frankfurt clear after ruling out the possibility of signing an extended contract in April. With one year left on Sow’s deal, Die Adler have decided to take up the option of selling the midfielder this summer while they can still generate a fee for his services.

Despite interest from Nottingham Forest and Lazio, it is all but confirmed that the Swiss national team player will make the move to La Liga and sign for Sevilla on a five-year deal. A fee of €10m with a possible €4m in add-ons will be announced once Sow completes a medical later today.

Last season, Sow featured 47 times for Die Adler in all competitions where he scored four goals. A significant member of the Frankfurt side, Sow will undoubtedly be missed having played a key role in the club’s Europa League success two years ago while also helping guide SGE to the DFB-Pokal final last term.

Nevertheless, Frankfurt have enjoyed a fruitful transfer window despite losing other key members. The arrival of Ellyes Skhiri on a free transfer from FC Köln looks to be the perfect replacement for the departing Sow, as the Eagles will hope to continue establishing themselves as a competitive side in Germany and on the continent.
