Both Sky Germany and Fabrizio Romano report that Dominik Szoboszlai has a time-sensitive release clause in his RB Leipzig contract.
The date within the clause is disputed. Sky Germany reports that the clause is valid until July 15th while Fabrizio Romano reports that the clause expires on June 30th.
The clause states that Szoboszlai can leave the club for €70m if a club activates it before the end date. If the bid is made after the date within the clause, then it will apply for the winter transfer window.
If a club wishes to sign Szoboszlai this summer after the date, then they will need to pay more than the €70m.
Newcastle still hold an interest in Szoboslzai however financial fair play is an issue for the club, which may cause them to go after their cheaper option which is Leicester City’s James Maddison. Newcastle sees the Hungarian as the more promising player between the two.
