Fabrizio Romano reports that Burnley are closing in on a loan deal for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Soumaila Coulibaly.
The loan deal will be a one-year loan with an obligation to buy of €15m. The 19-year-old currently has three years left on his contract at Dortmund having joined the club in 2021 from PSG on a free transfer.
Coulibaly has only played two professional games for the senior Dortmund team, one in the Champions League and the other in the Bundesliga. His one appearance in the Bundesliga was one to forget as he was involved in VfB Stuttgart’s third goal in the 3-3 draw which cost Dortmund two points.
The 19-year-old spent most of the season with Dortmund’s second team in the 3.Liga where he played 16 times as the team finished 13th.
The signing of Coulibaly will follow a similar path to Jordan Beyer at Burnley. The former Borussia Mönchengladbach player spent last season on loan at the Championship side before his loan was made permanent for €15m this summer.
