Bundesliga Predictions | Round 27

In this weekly feature, hosts of the Gegenpressing podcast Stefan Bienkowski and Manu Veth face off with their predictions for the forthcoming Bundesliga matchday fixtures. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Manu’s Game of the Week: Freiburg vs Bayern Munich

My match of the week is Freiburg against Bayern Munich. This will be the rematch of the DFB Pokal fixture and it will be fascinating to see how Thomas Tuchel and his side will react to going out in the cup against Freiburg. My head is saying that Bayern will act like a poked bear and smash Freiburg. My heart is saying that Freiburg can do this again, beat Bayern and open up the title race once more. That is why I ultimately settled for a draw. Either way, I think this is going to be a fascinating game to watch with big implications for the title race.

Manu’s Predictions:

  • Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Union Berlin
  • Bayer Leverkusen 2-2 Eintracht Frankfurt
  • Freiburg 1-1 Bayern Munich
  • Mainz 3-1 Werder Bremen
  • Augsburg 2-1 Köln
  • Hertha Berlin 0-3 RB Leipzig
  • Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-2 Wolfsburg
  • Bochum 1-1 Stuttgart
  • Hoffenheim 2-1 Schalke

Stefan’s Game of the Week: Hoffenheim vs Schalke

While there are undoubtedly bigger games at the top of the table this weekend, I can’t look beyond Hoffenheim v Schalke as perhaps the most consequential clash of the matchday. The home side have bounced back in recent weeks, while the Royal Blues have certainly looked pretty formidable since the turn of the year. This should be a really tense match in which both teams know anything but all three points could be disastrous for their future.

Stefan’s Predictions:

  • Augsburg 1-0 Köln
  • Bayer Leverkusen 2-2 Eintracht Frankfurt
  • Borussia Dortmund 1-2 Union Berlin
  • Freiburg 1-3 Bayern Munich
  • Mainz 2-0 Werder Bremen
  • Hertha Berlin 1-2 RB Leipzig
  • Borussia Mönchengladbach 0-2 Wolfsburg
  • Bochum 2-0 Stuttgart
  • Hoffenheim 0-1 Schalke

Scores after MD26: Manu – 157, Stefan – 137.
