Bundesliga Predictions | Round 26

In this weekly feature, hosts of the Gegenpressing podcast Stefan Bienkowski and Manu Veth face off with their predictions for the forthcoming Bundesliga matchday fixtures. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Manu’s Game of the Week: FC Köln vs Borussia Mönchengladbach

There are indeed other games than the Klassiker this week. In fact, Köln will host Gladbach in what is one of the most historic games in German football and on any normal weekend would have been the headline fixture in the Bundesliga. Located just a short S-Bahn ride from one another, Köln and Mönchengladbach really don’t like each other and, as a result, the folklore surrounding this match alone should make this a game worth watching.

Manu’s Predictions:

  • Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 Bochum
  • RB Leipzig 3-0 Mainz
  • Union Berlin 2-1 Stuttgart
  • Freiburg 2-1 Hertha Berlin
  • Wolfsburg 3-1 Augsburg
  • Schalke 1-3 Bayer Leverkusen
  • Bayern Munich 1-1 Borussia Dortmund
  • Köln 0-2 Borussia Mönchengladbach
  • Werder Bremen 1-1 Hoffenheim

Stefan’s Game of the Week: Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund

Naturally, the game of the week for myself is none other than Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund. Not only is this game dripping with narratives but it could also prove to be the deciding factor in whether we really do have a title race on our hands. Edin Terzic’s side will have to throw caution to the wind and make some history if they’re going to wrestle points off Bayern in their own back yard. It’s a huge ask for any team, but if you want to be champions of Germany you have to beat the best.

Stefan’s Predictions:

  • Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 Bochum
  • Freiburg 3-0 Hertha Berlin
  • RB Leipzig 2-0 Mainz
  • Schalke 2-2 Bayer Leverkusen
  • Union Berlin 3-1 Stuttgart
  • Wolfsburg 2-0 Augsburg
  • Bayern Munich 3-2 Borussia Dortmund
  • Köln 0-0 Borussia Mönchengladbach
  • Werder Bremen 2-1 Hoffenheim

Scores after MD25: Manu – 155, Stefan – 132.
