Bayern Munich without Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Dayot Upamecano for Freiburg clash

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game against Freiburg, Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will miss the game, whilst Dayot Upamecano is suspended.

“It’s looking like Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will be out tomorrow, he has knee problems,” said Tuchel, who confirmed that Choupo-Moting will undergo treatment and could also be a doubt for the Champions League game against Manchester City on April 11.

Tomorrow’s game against Freiburg comes too soon for Mathys Tel, who recently returned to training, and so two options to place Choupo-Moting as Bayern’s No. 9 is Sadio Mané or Serge Gnabry.

Upamecano is suspended after accumulating his fifth yellow card of the season against Borussia Dortmund last weekend. That means a likely defensive partnership of Benjamin Pavard and Matthijs de Ligt, with Lucas Hernandez still not available following a long-term injury.

Tuchel also confirmed that Jamal Musiala is fit enough to start against Freiburg as Bayern Munich look to extend their lead at the top over Borussia Dortmund – two points separate the teams.
