Bundesliga Predictions | Round 22 – Bayern Munich host Union Berlin

In this weekly feature, hosts of the Gegenpressing podcast Stefan Bienkowski and Manu Veth face off with their predictions for the forthcoming Bundesliga matchday fixtures. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Manu’s Game of the Week: Bayern Munich vs Union Berlin

Not surprisingly, my match of the week will take place at the Allianz Arena where first place Bayern Munich will face title challenger Union Berlin. Both teams are even on points (43) and are just separated by goal differential. Union come off a difficult result against Schalke who did to them what die Eisernen usually do other teams. Bayern should suit the team from the capital better and I expect this to be a very tight match.

Manu’s Predictions:

  • Mainz 1-0 Borussia Mönchengladbach
  • RB Leipzig 2-1 Eintracht Frankfurt
  • FC Köln 1-1 Wolfsburg
  • Hoffenheim 0-3 Borussia Dortmund
  • Hertha Berlin 1-2 Augsburg
  • Werder Bremen 2-0 Bochum
  • Schalke 1-0 Stuttgart
  • Freiburg 2-0 Bayer Leverkusen
  • Bayern Munich 2-2 Union Berlin

Stefan’s Game of the Week: Schalke vs Stuttgart

My game of the week has to be Schalke v Stuttgart. It may not be the most glamorous tie or even the most entertaining, but it is undoubtedly a relegation “six pointer” and a match that the Royal Blues must win if they have any hope of avoiding the drop. Similarly, if Stuttgart don’t take something from this match, they could quickly find themselves in even more trouble than their opponents on Saturday. It really feels like a must-win game for both sides and that’s why I won’t be able to take my eyes off it.

Stefan’s Predictions:

  • Mainz 1-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach
  • FC Köln 2-0 Wolfsburg
  • Hertha Berlin 0-1 Augsburg
  • Hoffenheim 1-3 Borussia Dortmund
  • RB Leipzig 2-1 Frankfurt
  • Werder Bremen 2-1 Bochum
  • Schalke 1-0 Stuttgart
  • Freiburg 2-2 Bayer Leverkusen
  • Bayern Munich 1-1 Union Berlin

Scores after MD21: Manu – 126, Stefan – 110.
