Brighton set to sign RB Leipzig’s Noël Bigo Atom

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Brighton are set to sign RB Leipzig defender Noël Bigo Atom.

The 18-year-old is set to sign a contract with the Seagulls to confirm the deal later this week. Bigo Atom left the German side in June after failing to strike a new deal with Die Roten Bullen.

It is understood that Brighton were able to fight off considerable interest from other Premier League sides in order to secure the services of the versatile defender. Despite serious interest being shown, the teenager was convinced by the long-term project laid out to him by Roberto De Zerbi’s side, who will make their first foray into Europe this season.

Last season, Bigo Atom featured 14 times for Leipzig’s youth team where he would captain the side on a number of occasions – including in the UEFA Youth League. With six appearances for Germany’s under-17 side, the 18-year-old is clearly thought-after within the German youth ranks.

Nevertheless, this is not Brighton’s only piece of business conducted with Bundesliga sides this summer. The English side signed former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud on a free transfer while having recently loaned out Deniz Undav to Stuttgart for the season.
