Borussia Mönchengladbach Sporting Director Roland Virkus has confirmed that Daniel Farke will remain head coach of the Bundesliga club following their 5-2 defeat against Borussia Dortmund.
Speaking to Rheinische Post, Virkus said: “We want to finish the season now, and also with this coach. It’s not up for debate that we will separate from Daniel Farke in the next two weeks.”
Virkus then confirmed that they will analyse the season after Borussia Mönchengladbach’s final game of the season against Augsburg. Post defeat against Borussia Dortmund, it was reported that Farke may be dismissed and that the club would appoint Eugen Polanski would take charge on an interim basis.
Farke was appointed last summer following the dismissal of Adi Hütter and despite losing just one game in his first eight games in charge, Die Fohlen would be eliminated from the DFB Pokal by 2. Bundesliga side Darmstadt in October whilst in 2023, they’ve won just four of their 17 league games.
It’s also expected to be a busy summer for Borussia Mönchengladbach. Ramy Bensebaini, Lars Stindl and Marcus Thuram will leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of the season whilst Stefan Lainer, Nico Elvedi and Florian Neuhaus will all enter the final year of their contracts.
