Borussia Mönchengladbach in discussions with Brandon Vazquez of Cincinnati FC

Sky Germany reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach are in discussions over a transfer of Brandon Vazquez of Cincinnati FC in the MLS. 

Sporting director Roland Virkus was reportedly in the US over the international break watching the 24-year-old. Vazquez is seen as a possible successor for Marcus Thuram who is set to leave Gladbach in the summer. 

Discussions are currently ongoing between Gladbach and the player’s management. Vazquez currently has a contract at Cincinnati FC until 2025 having joined from Nashville FC in 2019. Last season, Vazquez played 37 times for Cincinnati scoring 20 and assisting eight times as well. 

Gladbach currently have Joe Scally in the ranks who could help Vazquez settle into life in Germany and the Bundesliga. While as a whole the Bundesliga has proven to be a breeding ground for American players with the likes of Weston McKennie, Tyler Adams, Giovanni Reyna and Christian Pulisic all passing through.
