Bayern Munich monitoring Gavi’s contract situation at Barcelona

According to Sky Germany, Bayern Munich are monitoring the situation in Barcelona regarding Gavi’s contract potentially expiring in the summer.

The 18-year-old had recently signed a contract extension at Barcelona but he was still registered as an academy player due to Barcelona’s financial situation. In the new contract, there was a clause stating that if Gavi could not be registered as a first-team player before 30th June, he could leave on a free transfer.

Barcelona had previously tried to register Gavi as a first-team player but it was rejected by La Liga and later a court ruling.

Bayern have continued to watch Gavi over the years and are fans of him. However, the issue Bayern have is that they have too many players in the midfield position.

Currently, there is Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Ryan Gravenberch and Jamal Musiala at the club. While, Konrad Laimer is set to join Bayern in the summer from RB Leipzig and the future of Marcel Sabitzer who is currently on loan at Manchester United is uncertain.
