Borussia Mönchengladbach consider Jonas Omlin as a replacement for Yann Sommer

Both Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg and Bild are reporting that Borussia Mönchengladbach want Montpellier goalkeeper Jonas Omlin as their replacement for Yann Sommer, who has verbally agreed to join Bayern Munich

Talks between both Omlin and Gladbach have been happening for the past few days as Roland Virkus wants him. Omlin also wants to join Gladbach. The price tag for Omlin would be around €10m and the 28-year-old’s contract expires in 2024.

However, Montpellier does not want to let Omlin go in the winter and has not considered any other options. There have been no negotiations between Gladbach and Montpellier.

Omlin joined Montpellier from Basel in 2020 and has played 72 games for them in his two-year spell at the club, he was the third goalkeeper in Switzerland’s World Cup squad behind Sommer and Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel.

If Gladbach are unable to buy Omlin, Sky also reported that they will look towards Philipp Köhn of RB Salzburg who is currently valued at €4m.

Köhn was also included in Switzerland’s World Cup squad as the fourth goalkeeper and has been number one for Salzburg since 2021 which has allowed him to gain Champions League experience.
