Bayern Munich eye potential Benjamin Pavard replacement

TZ München are reporting that Bayern Munich have began to look at potential replacements for Benjamin Pavard in case the right-back leaves in the summer, which is yet to be decided.

For the right-back position, there are two names that have been mentioned. The first is Malo Gusto of Olympique Lyon, the 19-year-old has played 53 times for Lyon since making his debut in 2020. His contract expires in the summer of 2024 and if Lyon want to sell him for any money, barring a contract extension, would be this summer.

The second player is Denzel Dumfries. Bayern had already scouted the 26-year-old before he moved to Inter Milan in 2021. The positive for this deal is the fact that Inter needs the money but due to the Dutchman’s performances, the price for him will be high which may deter Bayern.

In the summer, Bayern signed Noussair Mazraoui from Ajax on a free transfer and when the Moroccan is fit he has been able to displace Pavard at right-back.

Pavard is a versatile player that is also able to play as a centre-back. For this Bayern are looking internally at the likely promotion of Tarek Buchmann. The 17-year-old is believed to have the right football ability and mentality to make it in the first team at Bayern. He will likely become an integral part of the squad in the summer.
