Borussia Dortmund discussing bringing Sergio Arribas on a two-year loan

Both Bild and Kicker report that a potential loan of Real Madrid youth player Sergio Arribas to Borussia Dortmund has been discussed.

Reportedly, during the negotiations over Jude Bellingham, Madrid brought up the opportunity to take Arribas on loan for two years. There would be a clause in the loan agreement that means the more Arribas plays then the cheaper the loan fee would become.

However, Eintracht Frankfurt are also said to be interested in the 21-year-old and for Dortmund, their squad upheaval has not gone as planned so far this summer, so any agreement could drag on like the rest of their transfers during this window, meaning other interested parties can swoop in for the attacking midfielder.

Dortmund have previously taken Real Madrid players on loan. Achraf Hakimi spent two years at the club between 2018 and 2020 where he developed into a quality right-back. While at the other end of the spectrum, Dortmund also took Reinier on loan from 2020 to 2022 and the Brazilian’s time at Dortmund was underwhelming and the transfer can be labelled as a flop.
