Borussia Dortmund cool interest in Iván Fresneda

As reported by Ruhr Nachrichten, Borussia Dortmund may have to turn away from desired right-back Iván Fresneda.

The 18-year-old has become one of Europe’s most exciting young full-backs after an excellent break-out year with Real Valladolid, despite the Spanish side succumbing to relegation. While at one point it did look as though Dortmund were favourites to sign Fresneda, there are now up to 30 clubs hoping for the teenager’s signature.

As of now, Barcelona are in pole position to sign Fresneda with the right-back hopeful of remaining in his home country. Dortmund have always been concerned about the price tag of the youngster and now with them not leading the race to sign Fresneda, they will look elsewhere.

This season Fresneda has broken into the Real Valladolid side, appearing 24 times this season in all competitions while recording four clean sheets. The 18-year-old has also been part of Spain’s under-19 squad since the start of the season where he has featured nine times.

The Black and Yellows are hopeful of improving their squad this summer and the report explains how BVB are following the development of Sergio Arribas of Real Madrid Castilla. While there have been no steps made for the midfielder, with 28 goal contributions in 34 league games, he certainly will be of interest to Die Schwarzgelben.
