Bayern Munich’s Alexander Nübel to forego salary to join Stuttgart

As reported by Tobi Altschäffl, Alexander Nübel’s move from Bayern Munich to Stuttgart is nearing completion.

Bayern Munich rejected Stuttgart’s initial approach but the club made an improved bid to sign Nübel, who spent the last two seasons on loan at AS Monaco. VfB doubled their offer to €1m to sign the 26-year-old goalkeeper on loan and as further reported by Altschäffl, Nübel will forego a percentage of his salary to join Stuttgart.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg adds that Bayern Munich are willing to find an agreement with Stuttgart, but Nübel’s loan move doesn’t come with an option to buy with a decision expected this weekend.

Prior to joining Monaco on loan in 2021, Nübel played just four games for Bayern Munich following his free transfer from Schalke in 2020. During his time at Monaco, the German stopper played 97 games across all competitions, keeping 24 clean sheets.

Once Stuttgart has Nübel in their ranks, they have developed a plan that will be put in place for a successor once his loan expires. Fabian Bredlow will remain as backup goalkeeper after his stint as number one last season, while Stuttgart will promote 17-year-old Dennis Seimen from the club’s under-19s. The aim is to make Seiman the club’s main goalkeeper within the next two years.
