Villarreal initiate contact with Waldemar Anton’s representatives

Stuttgart’s Waldemar Anton (27) is a wanted man with both Villarreal and Galatasaray both showing an interest and according to Bild, the former have initiated contact with representatives of the German defender.

VfB are yet to receive an official offer but per the report, Anton would not be against joining either of the two clubs despite a contract at Stuttgart until 2025 – with a market value of €4.5m, per Transfermarkt, Stuttgart hold all the cards and would command a fee that is significantly higher, given his long-term contract.

Although Villarreal have approached the entourage of Anton, Galatasaray have also been interested in the central-defender for some time. Because Anton was born in Uzbekistan, he’s likely to appear under Turkish status and so wouldn’t take up a foreigner spot within the team, as further reported by Bild. A move to Galatasaray, who will play in the Champions League, would also see a significant increase in the player’s salary.

An important player for Stuttgart, Anton also wouldn’t make a fuss if he didn’t leave the club this summer. Per Bild, the player, his wife and two children feel at home in the city, while Anton has a good relationship with VfB head coach Sebastian Hoeneß.
