Bayern Munich will do whatever they can to extend Jamal Musiala’s contract

On Wednesday evening, Bayern Munich overcame Turkish Champions Galatasaray 2-1 at the Allianz Arena to secure their qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League. However, just before halftime, Der Rekordmeister were dealt a killer blow as Jamal Musiala was withdrawn due to a hamstring injury.

This means that the 20-year-old could miss up to four weeks of action, depending on the final diagnosis. However, while this will be a significant loss for Bayern, what would be more troublesome is if they were to lose their talented youngster on a permanent basis.

As previously reported, Musiala’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2026, and with talks yet to materialise, a host of European football’s finest clubs are looking to steal Musiala away from Bavaria. As well as this, it has been understood that Musiala would be willing to leave the club if he believed that he could not achieve his goals of winning the Champions League or Ballon d’Or at the club.

Nevertheless, according to Abendzeitung München, Der Rekordmeister will do whatever they can to ensure that Musiala remains at the club in the long term. Bayern’s CEO, Jan-Christian Dreesen, would even comment on his confidence that Musiala will remain at the club before the game against Galatasaray:

“It’s still a long contract, until 2026. Of course, we will reach for the ceiling! Jamal is already a very important part of the team today and one of the greatest talents that German football has. Who would we be if we had this player and didn’t want him to commit to us permanently? But there is no reason to rush. We will discuss this with him calmly, and I believe it will end well.”

Therefore, while Real Madrid and Manchester City remain interested in Bayern’s phenomenal talent, Der Rekordmeister will not allow him to depart easily. If he is to remain at the club, then a contract extension would see him become one of the top earners for the record champions.
