Bayern Munich set €15m price tag on Marcel Sabitzer

As reported by Bild, Bayern Munich have placed a €15m price tag on Austrian midfielder Marcel Sabitzer.

The 29-year-old has officially returned to Bayern after his half-season loan with English side Manchester United expired. Nevertheless, while Sabitzer is back for now, it appears his future lies elsewhere with Bayern placing him on the transfer list.

The midfielder’s chances of returning to Die Rekordmeister’s matchday squad has become significantly less likely after the arrival of his international colleague Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig. It is reported that Sabitzer is currently being discussed at Barcelona with the Spanish champions on the hunt to find a successor for Sergio Busquets, who has departed to Inter Miami after an illustrious career for the Catalan side.

This season, Sabitzer featured 24 times for Bayern in all competitions scoring one goal and collecting one assist. However, he was sent out on loan to United in January where during his 18 games for the Red Devils, he would earn four goal contributions and help the side to an EFL Cup trophy.

Sabitzer joined the record champions in the summer of 2021 for a fee of €15m, where he was expected to become a key player, but he never materialised into the player Bayern were hoping for. His contract is still valid until 2025, however, he looks unlikely to remain in Bavaria past this summer.
