Bayern Munich search the market for Declan Rice alternatives

Bayern Munich have identified Ibrahim Sangaré (PSV) and Kalvin Phillips (Manchester City) as alternatives to Declan Rice, according to Bild’s Bayern-Insider podcast.

Arsenal appear to be leading the race to sign Rice but Manchester City are also showing an interest in the West Ham player, which is forcing Bayern to search the market for an alternative despite Rice being Tuchel’s preferred option.

Last month, Bayern intensified their efforts to sign Rice and Tuchel had been in contact with the player but it’s a race they now appear to be losing.

Two alternatives to Declan Rice

With a market value of €35m, Bayern Munich are actively scouting Sangaré (25), who played 45 games across all competitions for PSV last season. With a contract until 2027, it’s likely that the Ivorian will cost a significant amount.

Another option is Manchester City’s Phillips. Signed for €49m last summer, the Englishman played just 595 minutes across 21 games last season, and is a candidate for a potential departure. Per the report, Bayern also have a good relationship with the player’s agency, CAA Stellar.
