Augsburg look to sell players in summer clean out as they deal with financial losses

Kicker reports that Augsburg are looking to sell players this summer to make up for their financial losses of this season.

These losses are said to be greater than the losses Augsburg experienced during COVID, so any transfer income would help relieve the financial burden.

Mergim Berisha is a candidate to leave the club. Augsburg are set to pull the €4m buy option in the loan agreement with Fenerbahce and it is not ruled out that Augsburg would want to block his next career step, which the 25-year-old is interested in taking. If they are to sell the German international, Augsburg will hope for €20m.

Left-back Iago was a candidate to leave the club in the winter with Galatasaray and Besiktas both interested in the Brazilian, this interest could be reignited. While Ricardo Pepi is likely to leave the club, the 20-year-old has expressed his desire not to return to Augsburg and has attracted interest from Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, Feyenoord and even the Premier League.

For Augsburg, no player is unsellable. If they receive a good offer for the likes of Arne Engels who joined in January then they will allow him to leave.
