Arsenal submit proposal to Chelsea for Kai Havertz

As reported by The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Arsenal have submitted an opening proposal to sign Chelsea and Germany forward Kai Havertz.

Mikel Arteta’s side are working on a deal to sign Havertz (24), who joined Chelsea in 2020. Across all competitions, the Germany international has scored 32 and created 15 in 139 appearances across all competitions. The Athletic also state that “Chelsea need to trim their squad not just to offset past spending but also to fund signings in this window.”

As reported last week, Real Madrid are also working on a deal to sign Havertz but after confirming the signing of Jude Bellingham on Wednesday, it’s now unclear as to where the Spanish club stand in their pursuit of the 24-year-old.

Bayern Munich are also interested in signing Havertz, who has a contract at Chelsea until 2025. The German played 75 games under Thomas Tuchel during their time together at Chelsea, scoring 19 and creating eight in 75 games in all competitions.

Chelsea not partaking in the Champions League this season could play a part in the player’s future.
