Alexander Nübel to VfB Stuttgart is a done deal

Alexander Nübel to VfB Stuttgart is a done deal, according to Florian Plettenberg

The Bayern Munich goalkeeper will join The Swabians on a year-long loan without an option to buy. The loan will cost Stuttgart just €1m to obtain their new number one.

Nübel was present at Bayern’s official presentation over the weekend but will now travel to Stuttgart in order to sign his papers and complete a medical check.

Bayern were keen to send Nübel on loan this summer, with Manuel Neuer likely to return in September. As things stand, Yann Sommer will remain as the club’s current number one.

Nübel has always been open about wishing to leave Bayern as long as Neuer is in the picture. The 26-year-old isn’t willing to sit on the bench and would rather play more regularly elsewhere.

One thing is clear, however. Bayern aren’t willing to see Nübel sold just yet. They still want to keep him on the books just in case he excels on loan and looks like the ideal candidate to eventually replace Neuer when he decides to hang up the gloves.
