Youssoufa Moukoko has a contract extension offer from Borussia Dortmund

Youssoufa Moukoko turns 18 today, but he won’t be signing a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund just yet. As reported by Sport1, BVB officials wanted to continue discussions in mid-November during the World Cup break but after his surprise nomination by Hansi Flick, talks have been put on hold.

Negotiations are now planned for after the tournament and per the report, there’s a good chance that Moukoko and his management will agree on a long-term cooperation with Borussia Dortmund. The now Germany international, after making his debut against Oman, has an offer from Die Schwarzgelben that would see him earn a reported annual salary of around €5m.

Speaking at yesterday’s press conference on the subject, Moukoko said: “I haven’t spoken to Hansi Flick about it yet, we’re here with the DFB and not with BVB. I’ll make my choice no matter what. I can feel the coach’s confidence. In the end, you’ll find out whether I’m staying or not.”

Moukoko is Borussia Dortmund’s leading goalscorer in the Bundesliga this season under Edin Terzic with six goals and four assists in 14 games, prompting a call-up to the national team following injuries to Timo Werner (RB Leipzig) and Lukas Nmecha (Wolfsburg) which has ruled them out of the World Cup.

As is tradition with the national team, DFB manager Oliver Bierhoff said that Moukoko will receive a cake that’s low in calories, as they prepare for Wednesday’s Group E game against Japan.
