UEFA adjusts European Cup rules

Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, UEFA has adjusted the competition rules for the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League.

The changes, which were announced on Monday, now mean that clubs participating may add an additional two players to their squads.

The additional squad members must be chosen by April 1st.

This also comes as FIFA allowed foreign players and coaches from Russia and Ukraine to join other clubs with immediate effect. This temporary transfer window means such players’ and coaches’ contracts have been automatically terminated as they seek to apply their trade elsewhere.

This may result in an influx and free transfers into some of Europe’s top leagues.
