Real Madrid target Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano

Real Madrid are ready to make a summer transfer bid for Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano, according to French outlet Le10Sport.

The 23-year-old defender is under contract until 2026 with Bayern who invested heavily in him just last summer. If Real Madrid are serious about their intensions, they will have to pay a large sum of money for the young French international.

Bayern head coach, Julian Nagelsmann, has emphasised the defender’s potential in recent weeks despite publicly criticizing him due to a dip in form. After a 4:1 win against Hertha, the Bayern coach blamed Upamecano for the goal they conceded stating, “why do you play the ball directly? If I now have 95 kilos and am very fast, I’ll take the ball on foot, dribble another metre or two and see what happens.”

Upamecano has featured 29 times for Bayern this season in all competitions.
