Stefan Lainer and Jordan Beyer could be sold by Borussia Mönchengladbach

According to Bild, Borussia Mönchengladbach could sell both Stefan Lainer and Jordan Beyer who would join a host of players expected to leave the Bundesliga club over the next six months.

Lainer has struggled to replace Joe Scally at right-back since Daniel Farke has taken over and Bild is reporting that if they receive a good offer for the 30-year-old they will sell him in the winter. Beyer was sent out on loan to Burnley as he too could not find playing time under Farke. The 22-year-old has impressed during his time in the Championship and Burnley would like to turn his loan into a permanent transfer.

Other players that Gladbach could potentially lose are Yann Sommer, who has been heavily linked as Manuel Neuer’s replacement at Bayern Munich, as well as Marcus Thuram and Ramy Bensebaini. On both contract situations, Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus said: “Of course, our wish is to keep the boys here.” Whilst an extension to Sommer’s contract is possible, the chances of Thuram extending are virtually impossible.

Kouadio Koné is another potential departure in the summer. Virkus has stated his desire to keep the 21-year-old but Gladbach could receive as little as €45m for Frenchman in the summer, who has a contract until 2025.

Gladbach are currently eighth in the Bundesliga and three points off of the Europa League places. After a strong start to the season under Farke, they dropped off towards the World Cup break.
