RB Leipzig are optimistic about Christopher Nkunku’s future while Konrad Laimer deal is still open

RB Leipzig are optimistic that Christopher Nkunku will remain with them having offered him a significantly better contract, according to Sky Germany

The 24-year-old Frenchmen is having an outstanding season for Leipzig and has attracted the attention of many top European clubs including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich.

So far this season, Nkunku has scored 17 goals and made 13 assists in 30 Bundesliga appearances.

According to Sky, Nkunku’s new bumper deal would include a buy-out clause of around 65m euros. Internally, Leipzig is quietly confident the Frenchmen will sign an extension.

Meanwhile, the future of Konrad Laimer (24) is still up in the air. The Austrian’s contract runs out in 2023 and similar to his teammate, Konrad is also attracting the attention of other clubs.

Talks over a contract extension are due to take place this summer but it’s uncertain whether the midfielder will choose to stay or not.

Other players such as Marcel Halstenberg and Kevin Kampl are also waiting on contract extensions. Both players and Leipzig have cited this on several occasions.
