After a damming 2-0 loss to Wolfsburg earlier in the week, Borussia Dortmund must win their last game of 2022 in order to keep up the pace with the top four. That loss put Edin Terzić’s side down into 6th but still only two points off Union Berlin in 2nd. BVB can’t afford another when they travel to Mönchengladbach on Friday. The hosts themselves are attempting to bounce back from defeat at Bochum last time out. A very surprising result that many didn’t see coming, Gladbach now find themselves in 9th and six points outside the European places.
For Dortmund, they are still missing the usual suspects Marius Wolf, Tim Rothe, Thomas Meunier, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Mateu Morey, Mahmoud Dahoud and Sebastien Haller. Meanwhile, Marco Reus is also expected not to travel to Gladbach having missed the game against Wolfsburg. Recurring injuries are once again plaguing the midfielder.
Giovanni Reyna, Anthony Modeste, and Thorgan Hazard all came off the bench in the 2-0 loss in midweek. Expect Terzić to mix it up as he tries to find a winning formula.
Kobel – Süle, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Guerreiro – Bellingham, Can – Adeyemi, Brandt, Reyna – Modeste.
