Speaking on Sky90, RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff is confident that 24-year-old attacking midfielder Christopher Nkunku will remain at the Bundesliga club beyond the summer.
“We don’t have many players who can leave us in the summer. We want to strengthen the team rather than weaken it,” said Mintzlaff. “Nkunku will play with us next season. Of course, nothing is certain in football but that’s our plan.”
Kicker also report that Nkunku doesn’t have an exit clause with his current deal running until 2024.
Speaking in an interview with L’Équipe, Nkunku discussed whether he would need to leave RB Leipzig in the summer in order to force his way into the France national team: “It would be a lack of respect towards the club to think about that. At the end of the season, we’ll get together with the club, my agent, those close to me, to make a decision.”
