Official | Schalke sign Sebastian Polter

Schalke have this afternoon announced the signing of Sebastian Polter from Bochum for a reported €1.5m, the 31-year-old striker has signed a three-year contract.

“We’ve been able to secure a strong centre-forward, who has good pace for his height and is really physical,” said S04 Sporting Director Rouven Schröder. “He knows the Bundesliga and he knows what it takes to be successful. He has played over 350 games in professional football and we want him to lead from the front next season whilst using all his experience.”

S04 head coach Frank Kramer added: “Sebastian showed last season how valuable he can be for a Bundesliga team. He works extremely hard for the team up front and his power will improve our attacking play.”

Polter joined Bochum on a free transfer from Fortuna Sittard last season and scored 10 goals in 33 Bundesliga games. Schalke’s new striker has also played in the top flight for Wolfsburg, FC Nürnberg, Mainz and Union Berlin.
