Official | Ömer Toprak leaves Werder Bremen for Antalyaspor

Newly-promoted Bundesliga side Werder Bremen have today announced the departure of Ömer Toprak to Antalyaspor.

The 32-year-old joins the Turkish club after spending two years at Werder Bremen, playing 61 games.

Toprak has signed a two-year deal with Antalyaspor after rejecting an offer for a contract extension with Werder Bremen, that included performance related bonuses after missing several games last season with a calf injury.

The former Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund central-defender will work under former teammate, Nuri Şahin, who is now head coach at the Turkish side.

Werder Bremen have been relatively active in the transfer market so far and had prepared for the departure of Toprak. Niklas Stark (Hertha Berlin) and Amon Pieper (Arminia Bielefeld) both joined the club on free transfers.

Central-midfielder Jens Stage (25) joins the club from FC Copenhagen for €4m whilst SVW today announced the signing of former RB Leipzig and West Brom attacker Oliver Burke on a free transfer from Sheffield United.
