Official | Kasim Adams signs Hoffenheim contract and joins Basel on loan

Hoffenheim have announced the contract extension of Ghanaian defender Kasim Adams by a further year until 2024 before sending the 27-year-old on loan to FC Basel in the Swiss Super League.

“Kasim has the big goal of going to the World Cup with Ghana and for that to happen, he absolutely needs more playing time than he has been getting with us. That’s why we took the mutual decision to allow him to move to Basel and then re-evaluate the situation in a year’s time,” said sporting director Alexander Rosen.

Adams joined Hoffenheim from BSC Young Boys in 2018 for €8m and spent the 2019/20 season on loan at then Bundesliga side Fortuna Düsseldorf. During his time in Sinsheim, the Ghana international has played just 36 games across all competitions and has never really justified his transfer fee, whether that’s because of several injuries or strong competition in central-defence.
