Bayer Leverkusen rave about Belgian talent Madi Monamay (16)

Beating Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Ajax and Milan to the signing of Madi Monamay, Bayer Leverkusen bosses rave about the 16-year-old after taking the Belgian talent to their training camp.

“Because one of the other was a bit stricken, we took him with us,” said sporting director Simon Rolfes. “Madi is a clever boy, has a quick mind. He’s a lot of fun and he can still play U17s.”

Head coach Gerardo Seoane told Bild: “He’s doing really well. He was born in 2006, that’s amazing. He’s planned for our U19s.” During the training camp, Monamay showcased strength in the duels, quickness, courage and his robustness. B04 goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky added: “You can definitely see that the boy has a lot of potential.”

Monamay has represented Belgium at U16 level and also impressed for Genk during last season’s UEFA Youth league, where he played six games.

That prompted Bayer Leverkusen to sign the Belgian youth international in June.
