Hertha Berlin have announced their latest signing of the summer as Nigerian international Chidera Ejuke joins the club on a season-long loan without an option to buy.
As per current FIFA regulations, Ejuke can suspend his contract with the Russian club due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. The 24-year-old winger has done just that and will now play his football in the German capital next season.
The player had originally signed for CSKA Moscow in 2020 when he was purchased for a considerable €11m from Dutch side SC Heerenveen. During his time in Russia, Ejuke made 65 appearances scoring 10 goals and providing eight assists.
Upon his official signing, Ejuke said: “I’m looking forward to Hertha, to the Bundesliga and this special challenge. I want to do my part so that we can achieve the club’s goals together.”
Hertha’s sporting director Fredi Bobic expressed his joy by saying: “Chidera has already proven himself in several European leagues, brings good technique and versatility and a lot of pace. We are convinced that he will enrich our game with his skills.”
