Monaco reach agreement with Borussia Mönchengladbach for Breel Embolo

Ligue 1 side AS Monaco have reached an agreement with Borussia Mönchengladbach for Breel Embolo (25), according to Sky Germany. The Bundesliga side will receive a reported €12.5m, a fee that was only agreed in the last few hours.

It was reported yesterday that Embolo had reached an agreement in principle with Monaco but Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus denied any offers for their player. The Switzerland international striker is expected to undergo a medical on Thursday and will become Monaco’s second summer signing following the arrival of Takumi Minamino (27) from Liverpool.

Embolo joined Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2019 from Schalke for €11m. The 25-year-old has scored 25 and created 20 across 106 games in all competitions. Under Adi Hütter last season, Embolo scored nine and created four in 29 Bundesliga games, his best scoring season in the Bundesliga to date.

Gladbach have signed Ko Itakura from Manchester City this summer in addition to Oscar Fraulo (18).
