Bochum have announced the season-long loan of Real Valladolid 26-year-old defender Saidy Janko.
The loan also includes an option to buy clause should Bochum wish to make the move permanent.
The versatile defender can play both as a right-back and right midfield.
Janko is a well-travelled professional who has previously played for Celtic, Porto, Nottingham Forest and BSC Young Boys.
The Gambian international played 15 times last season as Valladolid secured promotion back to La Liga.
Despite this, many of these appearances came off the bench as Janko struggled for regular football.
Bochum’s sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz announced the signing by saying: “Saidy Janko will really liven up the competition on our flank. He is in the prime of footballing age, has speed and athleticism and, thanks to his CV, knows the requirements at the highest national football level. His international background will certainly be helpful for the integration into the team circle.”
