Markus Gisdol & Daniel Farke leave coaching jobs in Russia

German coaches Markus Gisdol (Lokomotiv Moscow) and Daniel Farke (FK Krasnodar) have both quit their coaching roles in protest at Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Gisdol told Bild: “For me, being a football coach is the best job in the world but I can’t do that job in a country whose leader has invaded another country in the middle of Europe. That does not go together with my values.

“I can’t stand on the training field in Moscow, coaching the players, demanding professionalism and a couple of kilometres away orders are being issued which bring great suffering to an entire people.”
