Marco Rose on Jamie Bynoe-Gittens: “He gives us something we are sometimes lacking.”

Speaking after Borussia Dortmund’s 4-3 defeat to Bochum on Saturday, head coach Marco Rose praised the performance of 17-year-old Englishman Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

“He justified his selection and played well,” said Rose. “Jamie is a massive talent who has had some injury problems and that’s why we have brought him through slowly with the U19s.

“He gives us something we are sometimes lacking, someone who’s willing to take someone on one-on-one down the wing at pace. He still has to get used to the high tempo of the Bundesliga. He got tired after 60 minutes.”

BVB went 2-0 down inside 10 minutes with goals from Sebastian Polter and Gerrit Holtmann before Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick. Jürgen Locadia then equalised before Milos Pantovic scored the winner five minutes from time.
