Mainz 05’s Christian Heidel has ruled out a summer departure for 21-year-old German forward Jonathan Burkardt.
“A change would come too soon,” Heidel told Bild. “He should develop in peace for another year, score 20 goals and then maybe next year is the right time to switch to the right club in the summer.”
The Germany youth international has scored 13 and created four in 34 games in all competitions this season.
In a recent interview with Kicker, Burkardt left his future open, saying that he’ll sit down with his advisor.
Burkardt’s current deal runs until 2024.
