Julian Nagelsmann on Serge Gnabry: “I’m very confident that he’ll stay.”

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga game against Freiburg on Saturday, head coach Julian Nagelsmann discussed the future of Serge Gnabry.

“I’m very confident that he’ll stay,” Nagelsmann told reporters. “I think from a football point of view he has everything that he needs. He has a coach that likes him as a person and as a player and he has teammates whom he gets along with very well privately.

“He feels very comfortable here, it’s a matter of talks between the club and the manager but I do believe that we’ll find a solution. He’s a very good player, he’s played outstanding games for us and will continue to do so, so we would all like to keep him here.”

Gnabry has a contract with Bayern Munich until 2023 but would like a salary increase before signing an extension. If they fail to reach an agreement, it could mean that we see the Germany international depart Bayern in the summer otherwise they risk losing him on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old has scored 10 and created five in 27 Bundesliga games this season.
