Dan-Axel Zagadou contract extension talks with Borussia Dortmund on hold

Sky Germany report that Borussia Dortmund have put contract extension talks with 22-year-old central defender Dan-Axel Zagadou on hold due to injury concerns.

Both Sporting Director Michael Zorc and head coach Marco Rose have said that they would like Zagadou in the BVB squad for the upcoming season but with just four Bundesliga games played in 2022 due to injury, the Frenchman must prove his fitness.

Zagadou has missed much of the season after undergoing surgery on his knee but his latest setback was due to a torn muscle fibre.

Rose confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the defender will be in Dortmund’s squad to face RB Leipzig on Saturday evening.

The 22-year-old’s current Borussia Dortmund contract expires in the summer.
