Hertha Berlin’s move for Ludovic Ajorque on hold as they seek departures

Hertha Berlin’s interest in Strasbourg forward Ludovic Ajorque has long been known but they must sell Krzysztof Piątek before acquiring the 28-year-old, according to Kicker. Ajorque is in Berlin and will be the Pole’s successor but the Bundesliga side don’t yet have the funds to secure the signing.

Piątek spent the last six months on loan at Fiorentina but is a candidate for a sale, alongside Davie Selke – whilst Stevan Jovetić has muscular problems.

Ajorque is currently under contract with Strasbourg until 2024, but would be able to leave for up to €15m. The Reunion born Frenchman scored 12 goals in 36 games in Ligue 1 last season and had also attracted interest from Bundesliga duo Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt – who are both no longer in the running, putting Hertha in pole position, but only if they sell some of their highest salary earners.

Hertha Berlin last week announced the signing of Chidera Ejuke and are now looking to strengthen their centre-forward position.
