Speaking after Germany’s 2-0 win against Israel on Saturday night, Hansi Flick praised the performance on debutant Nico Schlotterbeck and the way he dealt with the penalty incident post match.
“Nico and I spoke about that incident. He analysed that clearly like we did, so that’s a good first step. He played well, got stuck in and was involved. Hopefully it will be a good lesson for him. He can be really satisfied with his debut over all,” said Flick.
Schlotterbeck added: “I have a lot to thank Kevin for because he saved the penalty. I think we were pretty solid at the back but admittedly, we did lose a bit of control in the final 15 minutes of the game. All in all though, I think we defended well today.”
Chelsea duo Kai Havertz and Timo Werner got on the scoresheet.
