Gregor Kobel dismisses Bayern Munich links

Speaking in an interview with Sport1’s Kerry Hau, Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel (24) has dismissed reports circulating Germany regarding interest from Bayern Munich.

Asked whether he has heard about the rumours, Kobel said: “No, and that’s of no interest to me either. I play for Dortmund and we have big plans for BVB. That’s all I care about.”

Kobel is currently representing Switzerland at the World Cup and although No. 2 ‘keeper behind Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Yann Sommer, BVB’s stopper played 90 minutes against Serbia in their final Group G game, securing a place in the Round of 16 following a 3-2 win.

Since joining Borussia Dortmund from Stuttgart for €15m in 2021, Kobel has played 56 games across all competitions, keeping 19 clean sheets. The 24-year-old has missed five games for BVB this season.

Switzerland will now play Fernando Santos’ Portugal in the Last 16 on December 6.

Borussia Dortmund return to Bundesliga action on January 22 against Augsburg. Despite a positive start, Die Schwarzgelben find themselves in sixth after 15 games, nine points behind Bayern Munich.
