Fulham and Arsenal apart in negotiations for Bernd Leno

According to Florian Plettenberg, Fulham and Arsenal are apart in their negotiations for Bernd Leno.

Arsenal want around £11 million for Leno, a fee that Fulham don’t seem to be willing to pay. What could force Arsenal’s hand is that Leno has reached a verbal agreement with Fulham for a three-year contract.

The 30-year-old hopes that both clubs reach an agreement as he looks to strengthen his chances of being called up to Hansi Flick’s Germany World Cup squad. Leno hasn’t been in Flick’s squad since November 2021 and has lost his Arsenal place to Aaron Ramsdale.

Leno travelled to Germany with Arsenal as part of their pre-season training camp but didn’t play in their 5-3 win over FC Nürnberg. Speaking in June, Leno’s agent, Joannis Koukoutrigas, also confirmed that Fulham are interested in the German.

“Yes, Fulham is trying hard to get Bernd. Very professionally. This is also true for some other clubs and shows his status but as I said, for me he is the No. 1 at Arsenal and we are therefore also relaxed,” said Joannis Koukoutrigas.
